Why batch it

One mockup at a time doesn’t scale past the first campaign.

A single ad preview is easy. The trouble starts when a client sends twelve campaigns, fifty headlines and a shared drive of photos, and wants to see them all before Friday.

Building mockups one by one

  • Copy and paste every headline into a template
  • Guess which of fifteen headlines to show
  • Hunt for the photo that goes with each campaign
  • Screenshot, rename and zip each preview by hand

Building them in a batch

  • Upload the copy document and every photo at once
  • The tool scores each line and keeps the top 2 of each kind
  • Photos are matched to ad sets by their file names
  • One click downloads a gallery, a PDF or a zip of every page

Google’s responsive formats make this harder than it looks. A responsive search ad can hold up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions, and Google decides which ones show together.1 Responsive display ads mix short headlines, a 90-character long headline and your photos into whatever shape the placement needs.2 A client can’t review fifteen headlines in the abstract. They can review two strong versions laid out the way people will see them.

How to use it

Four steps from a copy doc to a client-ready gallery

Set your brand

Type your business name and website, and add a logo. The tool remembers them in your browser and puts them on every ad.

Drop in copy and photos

Drag a Word document, .txt or .csv file and all your JPEG or PNG photos onto the big drop zone at the top. Mockups build as soon as files land.

Check the picks

Each ad set shows every line with a score. Click A or B to swap a pick, and click up to three photos to choose which picture goes with which version.

Download the gallery

Every ad set gets its own gallery page. Download PNG or JPEG files, one PDF, or a single shareable gallery file you can email or upload.

Google Search

Mobile results card with your two picked headlines, both descriptions, URL and logo.

Display, 3 sizes

Native 1.91:1 card with the long headline, a 300×250 rectangle and a 320×100 mobile banner.

YouTube in-stream

Video frame with the on-screen card, skip button and companion banner below.

YouTube in-feed

Thumbnail and text the way a promoted video sits in the home feed.

Each ad set gets version A (best headline, long headline and description) and version B (the second-best of each). Pick three photos and you also get a version C with the A copy over the third picture.

Batch Ad Mockup Maker

A sample batch for a food bank and a roofer is already loaded, so you can see what you’ll get. Your first upload clears it.

  1. Fill in Your brand once. A Business: or URL: line in your copy overrides it for that ad set.
  2. Drop your copy file and photos on the big drop zone.
  3. Review the picks, then open Gallery and download.

Nothing you upload leaves your computer. The tool runs in your browser and doesn’t store your copy or photos on any server.

Format your batch

Write it the way you already write ad copy

Start each campaign with Ad set: and its name. Under it, list headlines, long headlines and descriptions. Give as many as you like. The tool keeps the top 2 of each.

Lines that repeat across every campaign, such as your business name, button text or a standard description, go once under Same for all:. Put that block at the top or the bottom. Any ad set can override it with its own line.

No labels at all? That works too. Short lines of 30 characters or less count as headlines, full sentences as descriptions, and anything else up to 90 characters as a long headline. A file with no Ad set: lines becomes one ad set named after the file.

Spreadsheets work if the first row has column names like Ad set, Headline, Long headline, Description, CTA, Images.

Example copy file
Same for all:
Business: Green Leaf Landscaping
URL: greenleaf.com
CTA: Get Quote
Descriptions:
- Family owned since 2005. Licensed and insured.

Ad set: Spring Cleanup
URL: greenleaf.com/spring
Images: spring, cleanup
Headlines:
- Free Spring Cleanup Quote
- Yard Ready in One Visit
- Book Your Spring Cleanup
Long headlines:
- Get your yard spring-ready in one visit, with a free quote today
Descriptions:
- Leaf removal, bed edging and mulch. Get a free quote in 24 hours.

Ad set: Fall Aeration
Images: aeration
Headlines:
- Fall Lawn Aeration

LineWhat it doesExample
Ad set:Starts a new campaign. Each ad set gets its own gallery page.Ad set: Holiday Meals Drive
Business:Name shown on the ad. Defaults to Your brand.Business: Hope Food Bank

Images:Words from the photo file names to use, or exact file names. Leave it out and the tool matches file names to words in your copy.Images: volunteers, dinner
Headline 1:Labels a single line. Works for Long headline and Description too.Headline 1: Feed a Family Tonight

Name your photos after what’s in them. A file called roofing-storm-damage.jpg is matched to the roofing ad set with no extra work. A file called IMG_4471.jpg isn’t matched to anything until you click it in the photo picker.

How it picks the top 2

Every line starts at 50 points

The tool scores each headline, long headline and description against the same checks a careful copy reviewer runs, then keeps the highest scorer and the best runner-up that doesn’t say the same thing. If your two best headlines share most of their words, version B gets a line that’s actually different.

The score is a starting point. You know the client, the offer and the landing page. Click A or B next to any line to override a pick, or Re-run auto-pick to go back.

Character limits follow Google’s specs: 30 for headlines, 90 for long headlines and descriptions.12 A line over the limit shows its count in red and drops to the bottom.

+12

Uses the space well. At least 55% of the character limit.

+10

Opens with an action. A headline that starts with Book, Get, Donate, Shop and the like. +6 if the action comes later.

+8

Specific or timely. A number, price, percentage, “free”, “today” or “same-day”.

+5

Speaks to the reader. Uses “you” or “your”.

+5

On topic. Shares a word with the ad set or business name.

−12

Exclamation point in a headline. Google doesn’t allow them there.4

−10

All caps or very short. Shouting words, or under 35% of the limit.

−8

Vague claims. “Click here”, “best ever”, “#1”, “number one”.

−60

Over the character limit. Google would reject it.

Before you send the gallery

Six things to check on every page

  • Search

    Read both headlines together

Google can show any headline next to any other. If the pair reads oddly in the mockup, it will read oddly live.

  • Display

    Watch the 320×100 banner

The smallest size shows only one headline and a sliver of photo. If the subject disappears, try a tighter crop.

  • Display

    Check the long headline alone

On the native card it stands without the short headlines. It has to say what you offer on its own.

  • YouTube

    Keep the on-video text short

The card over the video is small. Common guidance keeps the headline near 15 characters and the button near 10.3

  • All

Match the button to the page

“Donate Now” should land on a donation form. “Get Quote” should land on a quote form, not the home page.

  • All

    Compare A against B

If the client can’t tell the two versions apart, change one so your test answers a real question.

Agencies, freelancers, nonprofit networks and marketing teachers are welcome to embed the tool for free. Paste the code into any page that accepts HTML. In WordPress, use a Custom HTML block. Squarespace and Wix code blocks work too.

The tool runs in its own frame, so it won’t clash with your theme, and the frame grows to fit as people add ad sets. It doesn’t collect or store anything visitors upload. Please keep the credit line.
