Pancake Restaurants In Williamsburg
Based on pancake house and restaurant saturation Williamsburg,Virginia holds the title of Pancake Capital of the United States. There are more pancake houses here per capita than anywhere else in the USA. That means more than Orlando with all its theme parks. More than Gatlinburg, Tennessee with it’s down home country flair and tourist appeal. That means percentage wide, more than New York City. And the speculation starts as to how this could be..My answer…..
Pancake Houses Fuel The Williamsburg Tourist
Williamsburg, Virginia is a national destination. The country started here. The founding fathers came here. A major battle was fought near here. One of the most beautiful sophisticated theme parks in the country resides here. A great water park is here. The area around Williamsburg is filled with endless parks, attractions, and things to do. And if you are going to do these things you better be fueled up. And sometimes grits, and cold wheat cereals just are not enough.
If you look at these attractions you are going to be walking, moving, and sweating. This takes raw energy…pancake energy. At least 30 ounces of buttermilk flour, a cup of maple syrup, at least 2 slices of crispy bacon, and of course eggs. Figure on at least four to five hours of combined exercise and exertion. Let’s take a look at some of the major attractions and why you need Williamsburg pancake house energy.
Busch Gardens with Pancake Power
This is a no brainer and keypoint as to why you need to visit a Pancake restaurant before visiting. You are going to be walking for hours. In many cases uphill. Yes you are going to be waiting in lines, but on your feet. In the summer sun, your body is going to need to BURN THOSE PANCAKE CALORIES to keep you cool. You also need those carbohydrates to power you through mini Europe. And you cannot be slowed down by hungry kids or your stomach grumbling every five minutes.
Plus the most delectable food is on the other side of the park. Look at the map. If you follow the England-Scotland-Ireland route you won’t hit the scrumptiousness of the the New France barbecue pit, The Festhaus, or Italy until mid day to early afternoon. That is a lot of waiting and walking. Don’t forget shows will you slow you down too, and you have to see the shows.
Now, I know what you are thinking, what if you go the tradewinds-Italy-Germany-Route First? Huge mistake, as you will hit these places way before lunch AND have to backtrack. Nobody wants to backtrack. This is America. Even going through pretend Europe we always want to be moving forward, soaking up the next big bite size cultural caricature of the Old World.
And don’t forget you will probably have packages, food items, and stuffed animals increasing your need for more energy.
Colonial Williamsburg Foundation: Energy Only a Stack Of Pancakes Can Provide
For those of you who haven’t been, I know what you might be thinking. A stodgy indoor air conditioned museum. A few quaint air conditioned shops. Thirty minutes and you are in and out. Nothing could be further from the truth.
You are going to be walking across a mini restored colonial town. You are going to be interacting with live exhibits. It will take hours to get through all of it. There are no boring museums here. The history is alive so you better have enough calories to get through it.
Pancakeology: Pancake Houses Appeal To The Whole Group
I have not met an American yet who did not like pancakes or bacon. In fact breakfast is not just the most important meal of the day, I think it is the most popular. Small kids to older adults enjoy the huge spectrum of breakfast foods. It also gives the parents an excuse to indulge in life enhancing calories that only a cup of pure sugar ladened syrup over a stack of carbohydrates can provide.
Williamsburg Pancake House Plus: An excuse to add in fun food on a mass level
It is unlikely I can justify downing a batch of chocolate chip cookies. It also unlikely I will be in a position to burn off that much energy at lunch or dinner when I am most likely to consume these. But if I dump them in the pancakes, I can enjoy five or six layers of chocolate chips nestled safely in pancake batter. Then I immediately go burn this off while exploring The Old Country And CWF.
It is even more unlikely that I can justify downing a cup of sugar (really). It would be weird and I wouldn’t enjoy it. But if you add that into some maple flavoring it is a must have to dump on my giant stack of chocolate chip pancakes. And of course I have to add butter to this motley mix of American nutrition.
A Cup Of Sugar Versus A Cup Of Pancake House Syrup
Let us look at the breakdown of how many calories in a cup of sugar versus a cup of maple syrup.
- Cup of sugar 774 calories
- Cup of pancake house syrup 658 calories
Pancake House: The Right Time Of The Day
Heading out early is the only way to get through the vast offerings in Williamsburg. Naturally, the Pancake restaurant is open early. It is a no brainer. Early start…go to a breakfast place.
Pancake Restaurant Plus: Pancakes Are Cheap
It is also one of the cheapest. Filling up at breakfast on pancakes is way cheaper than anything from a lunch or dinner menu. A big breakfast on vacation is an easy way to save money.
